Property owners unaware of dangerous biohazards

Over the past decade the failing real estate market has ruined many homeowners across the country.  With the market decline and unemployment being at an all time high, there has also been a significant increase in the amount of illegal drug activity in our country.

Homeowners have been forced to relinquish their homes to the bank or mortgage company due to inability to make payments. Some homeowners elected to rent out their properties to individuals to cover the cost of the mortgage in an attempt to not face the financial devastation.  What these homeowners turned landlords didn’t expect was the dangerous rise in drug activities that turned may ordinary residential properties into full blow meth labs and illegal drug houses.

Bio Clean Services is experienced in the clean up, removal and remediation of these types of drug scenes. Not only is this type of activity illegal, there are extreme dangers to the health of anyone who comes in contact with these homes. The manufacturing of these substances ( or cooking as it’s sometimes called ) are not only hazardous to the health of the occupants, but animals, residents in the immediate surrounding areas and even the clean up personnel that have to restore these scenes to a safe environment.  The chemicals and methods used to manufacture these types of drugs are extremely flammable and one small explosion can blast through walls causing destruction to anything in it’s path.

Clean up of these biohazard substances and chemicals should never be attempted by an untrained individual. Bio Clean Services is certified in the removal and disposal process associated with these biohazards.  Our technicians are specifically trained to clean and disinfect all areas that have been affected by the chemicals, residue and paraphernalia that always remain in these homes.  We work closely with authorities and property owners to ensure that these homes are returned to a safe environment for the owner, surrounding neighbors and anyone who may come in contact with the property after our work is done.

Due to the severity of these types of chemicals and substances, it’s often necessary for our technicians to remove materials from the structure such as plumbing, flooring, walls and other items and dispose of the materials properly. We work directly with our contractors to ensure that these homes are restored to a pre-incident, safe condition.

If you own or manage a property that has been condemned because of illegal drug manufacturing or activity, please contact our office today for assistance.  We offer 24 hour dispatch and are able to respond immediately to help you ensure the safety of anyone affected by these incidents.

Crimes, Murder and the increasing biohazards left behind

Headlines such as these are becoming an everyday occurrence:

• “Mother of Teen Girl Fatally Shot: It's An Ongoing War”
• “A gunman, 23-year-old student Seung-Hui Cho, goes on a shooting spree killing 32 people in  two    locations...”
• "Twenty children and six adults are killed at the school by 20-year-old.....”

There once was a time when these headlines could strike a panic throughout the country.   No longer do they strike a panic as Americans have become impervious to these types headlines. Daily we hear of the incidence of brutal killings all around our country. Unfortunately, there is an alarming increasing in the rate of killing sprees, mass murders, massacres, rampage killings and other violent crime activities. Clearly these killings occur without regard for any of the victims especially those that by some unfortunate twist of fate are innocently in the wrong place.

These murder and crime scenes leave behind have many potential biohazards.  There is a are certain threats of infection from the blood,  matter, bodily fluids and invisible air borne pathogens that are sure to be hidden in the aftermath.  As little as 15 years ago if a murder had occurred only buckets, scrub brushes, disinfectant, gloves and  facial masks were recommended  by crime scene authorities as acceptable cleanup methods.

Bio Clean Services technicians have the experience to handle any death, crime, trauma or biohazard scene, returning the location to its original sanitary condition.   Certified by State and Federal agencies we consistently sanitize these bio hazard sites thoroughly utilizing EPA approved chemicals.

Summertime vacations can lead to serious health issues form hidden biohazards

Whether you are vacationing in the Blue Ridge Mountains or the sandy white beaches of Marco Island, the same hidden biohazards invisible to the human eye can be found just about anywhere.  During the summer months, vacationers spend time preparing and traveling across the country for what they hope to be rest and relaxation.  How much time do these travelers actually spend preparing for biohazards that they may encounter during their travels? Probably none.

Noone really knows the history of hotel rooms, rental accommodations or even rental cars for that matter. You may never know that someone committed suicide or died in the very hotel room you stay in. You probably would never know that the rental car you are driving could have been involved in an accident leaving traces of blood or other bodily fluids that are potentially hazardous to your health.  The bottom line is this information is not publicly known and every precaution for biohazards should be taken.

Bio Clean Services is experienced in the cleanup, remediation and disposal of blood, bodily fluids, matter and other dangerous biohazard materials. These biohazards are always found after a death, crime, traumatic experience or even in cases where illegal drug activity is present. In certain rental accommodations allow for pets and even these accommodations can carry biohazards from pet waste and urine. Let's face it, hotels and rental accommodations do not clean and sterilize the carpeting and materials after each rental period.  It is a commonly known fact that hotels have a laundry cycle for comforters and they are not laundered after every guest.

There are many precautionary measures you can take to help better protect yourself when traveling.  Industrial strength chemicals can be obtained in travel size to help disinfect toilets, showers, sinks and surfaces that are shared in rentals.  Consumers can purchase sleeping nets that help place a barrier between you and hidden biohazards in hotel beds. Hand sanitizer can be used to wipe surfaces of  tables and other areas where you eat or drink and you should always sanitize the TV remote control. In surveys by travel experts, TV remotes are at the top of the list of bacteria and other hazards.

If you are a hotel owner or hospitality manager, we suggest that you contract a certified biohazard cleanup company like Bio Clean Services to ensure the health and safety of your guests after any of these incidents occur.  Contact our office for more information on how our services can help diminish your liability.

Burglary Crime Scene Clean Up - The Hidden Hazards

When a crime occurs in a residential home or place of business, the aftermath can be overwhelming.  The biohazard materials left behind depend on the severity of the intrusion and whether or not violence with occupants are involved.  Even if no physical violence occurs, intruders can still leave behind certain biohazards from broken glass, wooden splinters and often times we find the presence of bodily fluids from vandals that damage a property.

The stressful cleanup of these types of aftermath require a professional company like Bio Clean Services to remove all biohazards and restore properties to a pre-incident state.  When intrusions are violent and involve a homicide, the evidence of biohazards is usually evident. In other cases, the use of special equipment is necessary to discover the trace elements of any biohazard materials left behind.

Bio Clean Services  maintains all equipment necessary and is experienced in the cleanup of death, suicide, blood, trauma and various types of crime scenes. Individuals, apartment managers and even general janitorial or cleaning companies are not equipped to handle this type of cleanup and to protect their health and the health of others, we advise that these scenes should not be cleaned by anyone without specific training, knowledge of biohazard removal and disposal or protocol of Federal and State guidelines.

Cleaning of most types of crime scenes involves the use of personal safety equipment to protect yourself from blood, waste and other pathogens that may be present.  Certified biohazard cleanup companies like Bio Clean Services use highly advanced sanitation equipment and effective EPA approved industrial cleaning chemicals or solutions that ensure your property is completely decontaminated and returned to a habitable state.  Any objects that come into contact with these biohazards must be cleaned, sanitized or in extreme cases removed from the scene.  Some materials can be handled in a simple medical waste box while others require proper removal protocols so they do not pose a health threat to the public.  In either event, if you attempt to clean a scene like this on your own and do not follow proper protocol, you may find yourself liable for health risks that may affect other people.

If you need more information about our services, contact our office for a complete list of our biohazard services and the areas in the Northeastern United States that we serve.

Hidden Biohazards Found in Foreclosed Homes

Our country has been faced with tens of thousands of foreclosures over the past few years and although the market appears to be strengthening foreclosure is still a harsh reality for many homeowners. Bio Clean Services provides services to clean up foreclosed homes and return them to a safe and disinfected habitable property for banks, real estate companies and private owners.

It is not uncommon for foreclosed properties to be left in an unsanitary condition when occupants move out.  Often times these homes are subject to vandalism or squatters who leave these homes soiled with urine, feces, dangerous drug paraphernalia and other harmful substance. This creates a nightmare for banks and real estate companies who try to market these homes for resale.

In circumstances like these, the bank or real estate personnel are not trained to clean or remediate the properties therefore they rely on the services of a professional biohazard clean up company like Bio Clean Services.  We posses extensive experience in handling these types of difficult cleaning jobs. We also perform Hoarding, death, suicide, trauma and crime scene cleanup jobs in the North Eastern United States.  We provide complete removal of biohazards, sanitation and restoration of these properties or scenes to a habitable condition.

Different areas of the country can be especially difficult because of warmer climates and the large number of swimming pools that are not properly maintained in a foreclosure situation. These properties are also more susceptible to vandalism from people who try to intentionally destroy the property.  If you are a bank or private owners, you may be liable to your local authorities if these types of hazards go unattended.  We work with many banks and private homeowners to clean up biohazard scenes that happen while a property is being marketed.

If you need this type of scene clean up or decontamination guidance, please contact our office for more information on the services we provide and areas we cover.  We are available 24 hours a day with emergency response dispatch and can assist with procedures for insurance claims and other payment assistance options.

Suicide Increases with Summertime Depression

As summer rolls into full force most people are busy having fun, planning vacations and family events. Most don’t realize that SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) haunts thousands of Americans. Summer months typically show a sharp increase in suicides all across America.

Bio Clean Services provides cleanup services for death, suicide, trauma, crime and many other biohazard incidents all across the country. Specifically with suicides, the trauma scenes left behind are often gruesome and require the expert skills of a professional biohazard cleaning and removal company like Bio Clean Services. Because of the dangerous and sometimes fatal pathogens, bodily fluids and other matter that remain after a victim’s body has been removed, these scenes require immediate cleanup to avoid infections and other health related causes that are a result of poor cleanup techniques or accidental exposures.

We suggest that individuals never attempt to clean a scene without the assistance of a professional. Industrial chemicals and special equipment will be required to remediate and decontaminate the scene and with severe trauma scenes reconstruction of a property is sometimes necessary. Failure to properly clean these types of scenes can put the property owner in a liable state if someone contracts an infection, disease or dies as a result of the improper clean up. These harmful pathogens can linger where the event occurred for weeks and even months afterward. Improper cleaning can also cause horrible odors that can only be masked with normal household cleaners and may require more extensive reconstruction if not immediately disinfected.

Bio Clean Services provides these services for residential and commercial clients all across Florida. We provide 24 hour emergency dispatch and are experienced in working with investigators and crime scene experts to help restore your property to a hazard free, safe environment.

If you are faced with the task of having to clean up after a suicide or other traumatic death incident, contact our office immediately so we may assist you in the proper cleanup protocol. Stiff penalties are imposed on individuals every day who do not follow the State and local protocol for cleanup and removal of biohazard materials and waste.

When a friend of family member dies at home

Your loved one has signed a Do Not Resuscitate Order also known as a DNR. Dealing with the death of a friend or loved one is traumatic enough without having the worry of cleaning up biohazard materials that remain after a person dies.

A number of steps must occur after your loved one has passed on.  First, you must call  911 and report the death to the police. The police will investigate the death scene, and the determination as to whether an autopsy is required or not.  When the police have determined that a homicide has not taken place and release the body, you may call funeral home personnel to remove the body and transport for the impending funeral.
