KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3)"Hoarders" -- it's a popular television show, but experts say the act of hoarding is growing, especially in the Midwest.

On the show we see stories of people with more than 2,000 rats living in their homes or every room filled to the ceiling with garbage. It can seem extreme, but many people are living with their own hoarding situations.
Matt Paxton is the host of the show. He travels the country teaching both cleaning professionals and mental health leaders about the disorder and how to help people. This week he's in Kalamazoo Michigan. He tells us hoarding is more prevalent in this area because people tend to live in their homes longer and inherit family homes. 15 million people in the U.S. are affected by hoarding, which is now a classified disorder with the American Psychiatric Association.
Paxton tells us hoarding usually begins after a traumatic life event.

Blood Cleanup Services Detroit, MI
At some point during our lives it’s inevitable that we must deal with blood clean up from a trauma, death or some form of accident. Bio Clean Services provides blood cleanup service in Detroit, MI and surrounding cities. When blood leaves the body it eventually dries. Depending on the type of surface that the blood is on depends on how long the drying process is. Blood leaves the body in liquid format and then begins clotting where the potential of particles flaking can create serious biohazard risks. Clotting can happen in as little as fifteen minutes and the dried flakes can become airborne (depending on the blood scene scenario) spreading potentially dangerous biohazards to other areas away from where the blood spill occurred.
In most cases the medical conditions of the person who’s experienced a trauma or death causing blood spills are not known. If you are the person responsible for blood cleanup services, it’s important that you know the risks associated with cleanup and hire Bio Clean Services a Detroit Blood Cleanup company to safely clean and sanitize the biohazard area. Once blood leaves the body, there are many factors that cause blood to quickly become a dangerous biohazard. Our technicians are experienced in blood cleanup and biohazard removal services. Our company maintains the proper permits and equipment necessary to perform blood cleanup services in compliance with State and Federal guidelines. If you are unfamiliar with these protocols, you are putting yourself and others at risk. You may also be subject to strict fines and penalties if you perform an improper biohazard cleanup.

The dangers of bedbugs and why professional treatment is needed
We’ve all heard the saying “Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite” and have laughed it off as an old saying that has been passed down from generation to generation. The fact is, these creepy critters have actually become a dangerous nuisance over the past few decades and seems to be rapidly getting worse. Bio Clean Services provides biohazard cleanup of blood, crime, death, trauma and other biohazard sites. Because we are experienced in biohazard waste handling and removal, we are able to assist with sites that contain these types of hazards as well. Bed bugs are blood sucking insects that multiply at a rapid pace and infestations are common, especially in elements like bedding and other materials that come into contact with human skin. These insects can be found in all sorts of places and can live for months without having the presence of blood.
In past years an insecticide called DDT was used to treat these biohazard carrying insects but that chemical has been banned causing the return of these insects in a greater number of cases than ever before. The bugs are extremely tiny and posses a hinged beak and stylet that pierces the skin finding blood vessels and they suck until full. Because they carry blood if the bug bites someone else there is a potential for secondary infections caused from scratching and pathogens that can be carried in blood.
Bio Clean Services maintains the proper equipment to help remediate these types of sites and the experience to properly clean, disinfect and return an infected site to a safe habitable area. Bed bugs are good hitchhikers. Often people carry them unknowingly in their luggage. This can be baggage when you are traveling, a briefcase, a backpack or just clothing. They can be picked up in public transportation sometimes or in theaters. They will travel on pipes and wiring and conduits from one apartment to another.
If you experience an infestation of these insects you can see why you will need professional biohazard assistance. Getting rid of the infestations isn’t as simple are removing a mattress or piece of furniture. To avoid the risk of spreading the insects to other areas contact our office immediately for assistance with biohazard cleanup.
