How to get rid of a biohazard mattress?

Frequently we receive calls from clients asking about mattress disposal and what exactly constitutes a biohazard situation that would require professional disposal.  Bio Clean Services provides biohazard cleanup and waste disposal in Dayton, Ohio.

Most people don’t understand that anytime blood or bodily fluids come in contact with a mattress there is the potential for a dangerous biohazard situation.  Blood, urine, fecal matter and other bodily fluids can all contain infectious diseases that must be properly cleaned.  Blood and bodily fluids once dried can become airborne and are able to be ingested by normal breathing by anyone in the affected area.  Because these scenarios are usually related to trauma, crime or medical circumstances, you cannot just sit a mattress out for normal garbage collection.  Doing so risks the health of the workers who collect garbage, the area where the mattress is stored while waiting for garbage pick up and even the disposal site.

Blood and bodily fluids can cause horrific odors and attract the presence of bugs and insects for weeks after an incident occurs.  Bio Clean Services uses industrial chemicals to properly clean and disinfect these types of scenes.

Proper mattress disposal would include our cutting away the area affected with the biohazard, sealing the waste in proper biohazard bags or containers and taking the waste to a facility that is certified in the proper disposal of biohazard waste, usually be incineration.  Because biohazards are found in many forms related to the human body, it is always best to consult with a biohazard cleanup company like Bio Clean Services to ensure that mattresses are properly disposed of.

Contact our office for more information on how are services can keep you safe in the event of a biohazard accident. Our technicians are certified and will be able to help you decide which method of disposal is right for your scenario.

Bio Clean Services offers industrial accident, blood, trauma, crime, death and other biohazard cleanup services.  Being faced with a biohazard site in a commercial setting can in most cases be far more dangerous than a confined site like someone’s home or auto. Who do you call when death cleanup is necessary?

There are many different causes of death with natural death, of course, being the most desirable form. Bio Clean Services provides death cleanup services for Natural and Unattended Death, Violent deaths related to crimes and trauma and even vehicle accident deaths.

In every death scene we clean there is always a presence of blood. Blood is a complex fluid of the human body which can turn bio-hazardous the moment it is exposed to the external environment. In natural circumstances of death due to sickness under medical supervision, it is not a tough situation to handle. Other deaths from violent crime or trauma scenes can contain widespread blood spills making the biohazard scene more difficult to clean.

Bio Clean Service technicians maintain the proper experience and certifications necessary to clean and remediate death, crime, trauma and many other biohazard scenes.  It is never suggested that untrained individuals attempt to clean up death and decomposing death scenes as the risks for health compromises are too great. Property owners may also be liable for any health issues that could arise from improper cleanup of a biohazard scene.

When a person dies the body immediately begins the decomposition process. When the human body begins decomposition it releases dangerous biohazards, gasses and other airborne pathogens that are extremely dangerous if proper protocol for cleanup is not followed.  It a death scene has been unattended for a period of time the presence of bugs and organisms will be found which can also carry the biohazards to other areas of the death site. Our technicians use special equipment and industrial chemicals only available to biohazard cleanup companies to help remediate and disinfect the site. This helps ensure the odors are completely gone and do not return and the site is 100% sanitary and free from any biohazards.

Death is something that we are all aware of, but we usually don’t think about the aftermath when someone dies. Who is responsible for clean up? Who do you call to help? Bio Clean Services offers quick response times and is locally owned and operated servicing the northeastern United States. Contact us today to learn more about our services and how we can help.

Ending Sexual Assault on College Campuses

Sexual assault is a terrible tragedy that happens to thousands of Americans each year. It’s an even more complex tragedy when it is happening more frequently on college campuses across the United States. For most people, the focus tends to be on the victim and the events surrounding the assault. These are very important factors in any assault case however, with every assault there is a huge biohazard potential associated with the crime. Bio Clean Services provides biohazard decontamination from crimes of sexual assault, violent deaths, home invasions and other intense traumas.

After the crime is committed, the biohazards that remain cannot simply be “washed away”. Blood, tissues, bodily fluids and other matter always remain at the crime scene and these biohazards must be properly remediated to avoid the potential of infections and contamination of others.  When sexual assault crimes are committed on college campuses (dorm rooms, public facilities to name a few) it’s important that these scenes be properly cleaned and disinfected. The areas are typically ones that many people are in or around and the risks and health hazards associated with these crimes puts the universities at huge risk for health issues and safety of other students.

Bio Clean Services maintains all necessary permits and certifications to properly clean, disinfect and remove all biohazard materials associated with these and other crime scenes.  We realize that these crimes traumatize many people and work discreetly and professionally to return the sites to a safe, sanitized area as soon as possible.  Each State maintains strict local and federal protocols for proper cleanup and biohazard handling. We arrive on scene with the proper equipment and materials, secure the site to avoid contamination spreading and completely restore the site to a pre-incident, safe condition.

If you are an administrator of faculty member of a College or University, please make sure that you have proper biohazard  handling protocols in place. If not,  create one and include Bio Clean Services as the company to contact for all biohazard cleanup and removal needs that arise.

Dangerous prison and jail cell biohazards

Over the past decade illegal drug activity has reached an all time high. From sales on streets to manufacturing these drugs, the presence of biohazards is always consistently found.  Bio Clean Services specializes in the cleanup and remediation of biohazards associates with blood, death, crime, trauma, illegal drugs and other biohazard waste disposal needs.

When you hear about illegal drug activity you usually associate it with people who are selling, using and manufacturing in ordinary neighborhoods, however there is an increasing amount of illegal drug activity happening inside of prison facilities all across the United States.  Certain drugs are simple to manufacture with things that are accessible to inmates, many of whom are incarcerated because of illegal drug convictions.

Due to the types of biohazards created by these drugs and the potential risks for compromising the health and safety of staff and other inmates, prisons have began contracting professional licensed biohazard companies like Bio Clean Services to clean these scenes. We are called to clean and disinfect jails, police holding cells, transport units and other areas associates with police departments and prisons. Some incidents not relating to illegal drugs are blood from fights, vomit and other bodily fluids found in holding cells, police cruisers, transport vehicles and even emergency response units.  These areas must be properly cleaned and completely disinfected to ensure the safety of anyone coming in contact with the areas again.  All materials from the cleaning must be disposed of according to the guidelines of State and Federal regulations. Our company maintains the proper certifications and permits necessary to transport and dispose of these types of waste.

If police departments or prison personnel were given the task to cleanup and disinfect these areas it would require every member to be specifically trained to handle and dispose all forms of biohazards, and maintain licenses and permits. They must also house all of the industrial chemicals and equipment necessary to perform these tasks.  The cost for even one municipality to maintain these types of services is astronomical.  In addition to eliminating themselves from liability of the cleanup, the costs associated with these incidents are the main reasons police and prisons have began contracting professional companies to perform work.

Who is responsible for cleaning up after a suicide or messy death?

Crime scene investigators and emergency personnel do not clean up after trauma, crime and suicides. In most cases there are always medical waste left behind in addition to blood, bodily fluids and other matter that must be cleaned up. The real questions is, “Who’s responsible for cleanup?”

Ordinarily the family members or other persons residing with the deceased would be responsible for the cleanup. If the person died alone or without family, the responsibility typically falls on whomever owns the property. If the incident occurs in a commercial setting such as an office building, the management of the building would most likely be responsible for ensuring proper cleanup to protect other tenants in the building.

Bio Clean Services is experienced in the cleanup of death, crime, trauma, suicide and many other biohazard scenes.  Each state has different requirements and protocols for the cleanup and removal of biohazard waste materials. With our coverage areas expanded to a four state northeastern region, we maintain all of the necessary permits and training to ensure that the biohazard scenes we clean are 100% safe and returned to their original, pre-incident condition.

Cleanup after any form of traumatic event is no easy task. There are hidden biohazards and microorganisms that cannot be seen with the human eye and even small trace amounts of these biohazards have the capability of causing infections disease spread, health hazards to those who come in contact and possibly even death.  It is imperative that these scenes be professionally cleaned and sanitized following strict guidelines for safety standards implements by agencies such as OSHA, EPA and the State Departments of Health.

If you are faced with a trauma, crime, death or biohazard situation please call our professional technicians at once.  We offer 24 / 7 emergency dispatch to help make certain that our clients are safe and protected.  Financial responsibility for our services usually falls on the family or property owner however several insurance carriers cover these types of services. What happens if a crime or death scene is not properly cleaned?

Bio Clean Services performs certified, professional biohazard cleanup services in a four state region covering Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia.  Several calls we receive are from clients who, after a traumatic incident, death in their home or illegal drug activity, are experiencing horrific odors and other issues.

It’s imperative that anyone who is responsible for having to clean up after a crime, death, trauma or suicide scene contact a professional company like Bio Clean Services.  We maintain the proper certifications and are experienced in the proper remediation of all sorts of biohazards.  Every state is different however, each state requires certification for the proper disposal of biohazard waste and contaminated materials. We maintain those certifications and permits.

Almost every call we receive from clients who have attempted to clean an incident scene is because of odor or bugs. If these scenes (which almost all do) contain blood, bodily fluids and other pathogens that can’t always be seen with the human eye, then it’s nearly impossible for an untrained individual to clean using normal household chemicals. Bio Clean Services uses EPA approved industrial strength chemicals and equipment to ensure that all traced of biohazards have been removed from the scene.  If these elements are not properly cleaned and all biohazards removed, there will most definitely be horrific odors, bugs and a breeding ground for other infectious diseases to grow.

One example that we like to explain to our clients it a small 4 inch diameter blood stain on a floor when uncovered can expose blood biohazards in mass quantity underneath. This means carpet cleaning and other methods can not possibly extract all of the biohazards. The elements must be removed and disposed.  It is often necessary to remove all carpeting, subflooring and even portions of walls or furniture that are in contact with the biohazards. Removal is the only way to ensure that the areas are returned to a safe, sanitized environment.
If you are the person responsible for cleanup of these types of scenes, call us immediately to employ our services. Failure to properly clean a biohazard scene can have serious liability issues and may be dangerous to your health or possibly fatal.

Burglary Crime Scene Clean Up - The Hidden Hazards

When a crime occurs in a residential home or place of business, the aftermath can be overwhelming.  The biohazard materials left behind depend on the severity of the intrusion and whether or not violence with occupants are involved.  Even if no physical violence occurs, intruders can still leave behind certain biohazards from broken glass, wooden splinters and often times we find the presence of bodily fluids from vandals that damage a property.

The stressful cleanup of these types of aftermath require a professional company like Bio Clean Services to remove all biohazards and restore properties to a pre-incident state.  When intrusions are violent and involve a homicide, the evidence of biohazards is usually evident. In other cases, the use of special equipment is necessary to discover the trace elements of any biohazard materials left behind.

Bio Clean Services  maintains all equipment necessary and is experienced in the cleanup of death, suicide, blood, trauma and various types of crime scenes. Individuals, apartment managers and even general janitorial or cleaning companies are not equipped to handle this type of cleanup and to protect their health and the health of others, we advise that these scenes should not be cleaned by anyone without specific training, knowledge of biohazard removal and disposal or protocol of Federal and State guidelines.

Cleaning of most types of crime scenes involves the use of personal safety equipment to protect yourself from blood, waste and other pathogens that may be present.  Certified biohazard cleanup companies like Bio Clean Services use highly advanced sanitation equipment and effective EPA approved industrial cleaning chemicals or solutions that ensure your property is completely decontaminated and returned to a habitable state.  Any objects that come into contact with these biohazards must be cleaned, sanitized or in extreme cases removed from the scene.  Some materials can be handled in a simple medical waste box while others require proper removal protocols so they do not pose a health threat to the public.  In either event, if you attempt to clean a scene like this on your own and do not follow proper protocol, you may find yourself liable for health risks that may affect other people.

If you need more information about our services, contact our office for a complete list of our biohazard services and the areas in the Northeastern United States that we serve.

Suicide Increases with Summertime Depression

As summer rolls into full force most people are busy having fun, planning vacations and family events. Most don’t realize that SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) haunts thousands of Americans. Summer months typically show a sharp increase in suicides all across America.

Bio Clean Services provides cleanup services for death, suicide, trauma, crime and many other biohazard incidents all across the country. Specifically with suicides, the trauma scenes left behind are often gruesome and require the expert skills of a professional biohazard cleaning and removal company like Bio Clean Services. Because of the dangerous and sometimes fatal pathogens, bodily fluids and other matter that remain after a victim’s body has been removed, these scenes require immediate cleanup to avoid infections and other health related causes that are a result of poor cleanup techniques or accidental exposures.

We suggest that individuals never attempt to clean a scene without the assistance of a professional. Industrial chemicals and special equipment will be required to remediate and decontaminate the scene and with severe trauma scenes reconstruction of a property is sometimes necessary. Failure to properly clean these types of scenes can put the property owner in a liable state if someone contracts an infection, disease or dies as a result of the improper clean up. These harmful pathogens can linger where the event occurred for weeks and even months afterward. When a friend of family member dies at home

Your loved one has signed a Do Not Resuscitate Order also known as a DNR. They have decided to take the natural progression into their next life and are requesting that this transition takes place in the comfort, peace and tranquility of their own home.  Knowing before the death will certainly give you time to brace yourself for the shock that comes with  loosing a loved one. Dealing with the death of a friend or loved one is traumatic enough without having the worry of cleaning up biohazard materials that remain after a person dies.

A number of steps must occur after your loved one has passed on.  First, you must call  911 and report the death to the police. The police will investigate the death scene, and the determination as to whether an autopsy is required or not.  When the police have determined that a homicide has not taken place and release the body, you may call funeral home personnel to remove the body and transport for the impending funeral.

Now that the body has been removed from the home, there are traces of pathogens and other biohazards that can be extremely harmful to you if the proper cleanup protocol is not followed.  Bio Clean Services is experienced in the clean up and removal of biohazard materials, waste, blood and other trauma scene materials. When someone dies, it takes as little as 15 minutes for the body to begin to decompose.   The area in which the body was located may become contaminated with these  hidden  pathogens which could possibly make you or other family members sick.

Our bio- hazard professionals at Bio Clean Services are trained to  re mediate the death scene back to its original sanitary state.  We are trained to deal with all situations in a discreet and professional manner.  Frequently, Bio Clean Services  receives calls to perform clean up for all death scenes types including murder, suicide or trauma clean up.

If you or someone you know is in need of these services please contact our office, we are available with 24 hour immediate response dispatch. We can assist you with procedures for insurance claims and other payment assisted programs.
